Lay You Down In A Bed Of Couscous Post by: Dan The Internut 24 October, 2011 - 1:27 PM

As we always suspected, Jon Bon Jovi isn't just a talented musician... he's also a bloody nice bloke to boot.
Since the band is on a designated break from all things Bon Jovi, Jon's been working hard in providing good, healthy food for the needy in his home town of New Jersey. Jon and his wife Dorothea have established a "pay what you can" restaurant called "The Soul Kitchen".
To eat there, it's simple... you either choose to leave what you think the meal was worth in an envelope on the dinner table, or, you choose to work off the meal by providing a service back to the restaurant, be it waiting tables, working in the kitchen, even the old cliched washing the dishes.
Jon's inspiration was simple...
"When I learned that one in six people in this country goes to bed hungry, I thought this was the next phase of the (Jon Bon Jovi Soul) Foundation's work," he said.
However, the big difference about this restaurant is that people can't just take... they have to give something back.
"If you come in and say, 'I'm hungry,' we'll feed you... But we're going to need you to do something. It's very important to what we're trying to achieve... This is not an entitlement thing...this is about empowering people because you have to earn that gift certificate."
We're not sure how this will impact Jon's songwriting... but "You Give Steak A Bad Name" has a certain ring to it :)
