Bon Jovi To Quit For Two Years Post by: Dan The Internut 1 February, 2011 - 6:11 AM

December 8: Bon Jovi rock Patersons Stadium in Perth on their Australian Circle tour.

Bon Jovi have confirmed they will take a massive two year break after they wrap up the Circle Tour in Lisbon in July 2011.

Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres says the break is all about keeping the fans wanting more, the ol' "absence makes the heart grow fonder" trick.

"Sometimes you need to get away so people can appreciate you better," Tico said this week. "The best thing I can tell you is we're gonna need a couple of years off for sure."

Before Bon Jovi's Circle Tour of Australia kicked off, Bon Jovi's charismatic frontman Jon Bon Jovi let slip he may finally embark on a solo career during his hiatus from the band.

“I’m going to sit on a beach for August [2011], which is usually what I do, and come September figure out what's next,” Bon Jovi told Billboard.com late last year.

Jon hinted at “a smaller-sounding solo record and/or focus more on the philanthropy and sports ownerships,” in his future.

If he decides to finally step out on his own (as opposed to buying a footy team), Jon has his heart set on power ballads.

Jon says his solo record would be a "lyric-driven, acoustic-sounding kind of thing with piano, a couple guitars, a B3 [organ] and a violin,” he mused.

“I do these solo things often times for charity, and I enjoy the atmosphere because it really gives the singer a chance to sing."

"You’re not competing with the loud amps. So I could see myself doing a singer’s type of a record. We’ll see.”

Aussie fans can count their lucky stars they just witnessed the full-scale spectacle of the Circle Tour live in the flesh.

It will be a while before it happens again.

Do you think Bon Jovi should take a break? Have your say.

I certainly think they deserve a HUGE break after their Circle Tour.. It would take a lot out of a person doing all that touring and I can understand them wanting a break for a while to stop and recharge their batteries..

For sure they should take a break - they have been touring forever and Jon Bon has a stackload of business interests outside the band - so REST UP!

Absolutely gutted that they are going to take a break but completely understand the need to as they all give more than 100% in every show and it does take it out of you. The Fans will still be here when they crank it up again :-)

Sad they are taking a break but the anticipation for a new album and tour will make the heart grow fonder - they deserve it and look forward to hearing Jons solo stuff and whatever the band comes up with when they return.

It's not as if they're breaking up, they're just going on hiatus... the last time that happened, Jon cut his hair, so I wonder what will happen this time lol.
