Ben Harper Joins INXS Post by: Dan The Internut 7 July, 2010 - 11:02 AM
Ben Harper will be stepping in for the mighty Michael Hutchence on INXS' brand new, star-studded 'covers' album.
The band's first record in five years is a re-imagining of their classic hits with new arrangements and singers.
Harper was originally slated for INXS classic 'Devil Inside,' but Harper's heart-wrenching performance on 'Never Tear Us Apart' has been confirmed as the final cut to appear on the album, out later this year.
In fact, Ben Harper has been covering 'Never Tear Us Apart' live for years. Check him out riffing on the INXS classic in the video above when opening for Pearl Jam.
Other artists roped into the project include Matchbox 20's Rob Thomas and The Killers' Brandon Flowers. ‘Original Sin’ with Rob Thomas almost has a Cuban connection with some Spanish rap in it,' drummer Jon Farriss told Rolling Stone earlier this year.
We're a bit apprehensive about filthing up Aussie rock classics with rap, but it will still be very interesting to hear what the other special guests come up with.
