Russell's 'Upstart' Brand On The Rise Post by: Jane Doe 11 June, 2010 - 5:05 PM

If you were looking for cheeky shenanigans with some random cultural facts thrown in, Russell Brand didn't disappoint.
The first thing that hits you is his powerful charisma, and then it's the sexy material and his absolutely brilliant vocabulary.
Performing on Thursday night at the Sydney's Entertainment Centre, Brand's first move was to meet his crowd by climbing off stage and into the seats. He is a bit of a loon and his fans can be too!
One young lady threw herself at him, asking him to use her black marker to sign her body. He obligingly wrote: "please tattoo this trotter".
Later in the night, he innocently asked a young man sitting in the front row for his mobile phone and then called his dad live on stage!
We didn't know if he says this to everyone one but he proclaimed this audience to be the sexiest he had ever seen and then riffed on topics as broad as his time as a kid mercilessly teasing his dog 'Topsy' to the strange names of nudist beaches around Sydney.
You never knew where he'd go next, like when he would bizarrely simulate a sex act with his chair like he was on the set of some porno.
Twitter enemies, life as a guy dating a celebrity (in this case, his fiance Katy Perry) and jokes about Robert Pattison, Twilight and his time hosting the MTV Awards (the same night as the infamous Kanye West/Taylor Swift incident) also got plenty of laughs.
Russell's upstart 'brand' is on the rise.
Did you see Russell Brand? What was it like?

I was at Russell's sydney show on the 10th of June. I am a long time fan of Mr Brand's, yet he never ceases to amaze me with his comedic genius! He is whitty, quick and sexually explicit but that is just what makes him such a fantastic performer! He made love to a chair, knocked twilight for a sixer and engaged the audience every step of the way. He even came out in to the lobby after the performance and greeted his fans with autographs, cheeky grins and even a few kisses! I LOVE YOU RUSSELL!

i saw russell live in sydney perform last week, He was so good, and improvised quite alot which just showed his talent and skill. The whole audience was full with laughter, he was just amazing. At the end he was also nice enough to come down after the show for photos and autographs people shoved things in his face yelled screamed did any thing to get close to him, but he was calm and kept a big smile on his face the whole time. His patience with the fans was fantastic and did all he could to make sure everyone got autographs & photos, he is absolutely amazing .
